SUGGESTED FAN AND PARENTS CODE OF CONDUCT

~ HONOR THE GAME ~ Lacrosse should be fun for players, coaches and parents. Garden City Rams Girl’s Lacrosse Club believes that girls should develop skills and a love for the game of lacrosse while also learning the value of sportsmanship and teamwork.  Fans and parents are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that adheres to the following Mission Statement:
 The Garden City Rams Girls Lacrosse Club’s mission is to promote the rich tradition of girls’ lacrosse through a positive, fun environment of continuous athletic development, teamwork and sportsmanship while developing each player’s character, skill and love of the game.
GCRGLC Parent & Fan Suggested Guidelines

  1. We are all role models for the players & children & believe young athletes learn valuable lessons by watching the behaviors and attitudes of adults.
  2. Emphasize the FUN of the game and the team - focusing on effort and improvement vs wins and losses.  
  3. Respect the game of lacrosse includes the rules, fans, parents, players, coaches and officials.
  4. Allow the children to be coached by the coaches and not interfere by offering additional instruction while on the sidelines.
  5. Encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, fans and officials at games and practices.Do not ever criticize any players, coaches, fans or officials regardless of the circumstances.
  6. Place the well-being of my child and other children before any desire to win.
  7. Coaches, players, parents & fans should be modest in victory and gracious in defeat.
  8. Recognize that coaches are willing to discuss my child and/or coaching philosophies, but agree that discussions will only take place at the appropriate time and never during a game or practice in the presence of any players or other parents/guardians.
  9. Follow the “24 Hour Rule”; if you have a complaint resulting from a game (or practice) situation, speak with the coach on the following day.
  10. The GCGRLC Non Partisan Board Member / Child Protection Coordinator is available to discuss any player or coach issues.
Any conduct, including abusive language and/ or gestures, racially insensitive remarks, damage to property or belongings, or any other conduct that reflects poorly on yourself or GCRGLC is deemed to be unacceptable. This applies to all players, fans, parents, & coaches at all times when in or around games or practices.   Any conduct unbecoming of the GCRGLC mission can face discipline up to and including suspension or expulsion of the participating player & loss of tuition for the season.
